VENEZUELA – PART I: MEET N’ GREET
We are back from Caracas, Venezuela where we have spent one of the best weeks of our lives. It’s been an amazing experience and we’ve met so many great people, new friends and all this thanks to Mattey Magazine (with Roberto, Rafael, Jorge, Miztika and Leo at the helm), one of the best, top class organizers there is.
We want to share some of the things that we experienced during our stay in Venezuela so you will be able to follow up on our stories through some blog posts like this one! Here comes Part I:
We did not know much about Venezuela before coming there so we arrived on June 16 2010 to Simon Bolivar International Airport (CCS)with new eyes, ready for anything and everything. It turned out to be a good attitude because Venezuela is something completely new, different and unique. Mattey’s crew took care of us right from the start by taking us to our great hotel to get some rest from our long 13 hour travel.

Every day was planned for something but we also had plenty of time to relax, get sun burnt by the pool, drink cerveza and enjoy every minute in Venezuela.

The next day we greeted Hirax when they came to the hotel from the airport. The Invasión Thrash had begun!

Our first public appearance was on our signing session with Hirax the day before the show. The signing session/meet n’ greet was held on June 17 2010 in a record store in Caracas called Acantus (CC San Ignacio). We were greeted by a big bunch of crazy fans and two by two they came into the store so that we could really meet everyone in person. It was great seeing all familiar faces that we’ve known online since over half a year back when the show was first announced! We met our Street Team leader Condesa Blanca (who couldn’t stop screaming when she saw us
) and all others working together with her. It was amazing how the fans also brought us gifts such as a wonderful portrait of me and custom made Venezuelan flags with Decadence logo on them! The meet n’ greet was a perfect way for us to get to know all the people who were going to our show and the moment was precious to us as it increased the whole experience of the concert as well.

What impressed us the most about Venezuela during these first days were the deeply dedicated fans and the incredible support they gave us. This was the real deal and they all made us feel home with a very warm welcoming. This could only turn out good. About Venezuela as a whole, we couldn’t stop staring at the mountains, how the clouds were lower than the actual top of the mountains and passed them like fog in the mornings and the large fairytale like vultures circling by them in the deep valley. Only some dinosaurs missing and we’d have Jurassic Park!

The view from our hotel
A fun fact to round it off: Look what Rafael Mattey noticed… Apparently I like the shape because I’ve never known about the striking similarities between my eyes and the Decadence logo that I’ve drawn! So no Rafael, this was not intentional, but I like the connection!

All photo’s that we’ve gathered from this trip will be shared later. Stay tuned for more in Part II!
